This book is designed to take the beginning student of Shona, a Bantu language spoken principally in Zimbabwe, through the intermediate level and somewhat into the advanced level. There are 43 annotated readings taken from Zimbabwean periodical literature and arranged by ascending order of difficulty. A wide range of topical subject matter is included in the readings. In addition to the natural language readings and accompanying vocabulary, there is a composite glossary of all terms that appear in the reading selections. A 56-page reference grammar of the Shona language follows the readings.
